Answers
to Your Car Repair Questions
Q.
Will my insurance pay for repairs at Thoroughbred Collision Centers?
A. Yes, we accept all insurance carriers who do business in Washington
and Idaho. We'll take care of all the paperwork with your insurance company
to make the process easy and simple for you.
Q. Do I have the right
to select the shop that will repair my car?
A. Yes. In order to expedite your claim, select the repair shop, leave
your automobile there and notify your insurance agent or company.
Q. Do I need to get
three estimates?
A. No. Notify your agent or insurance company. Your insurance adjuster
may need to inspect the damage, If your insurance company has a drive-in
claims service and your car is safe to drive, you should call them for
an appointment, take your car there, make sure you get a copy of the insurance
adjuster’s estimate, and take it and your automobile to the shop
of your choice.
In some areas your insurance agent may tell you to get two estimates.
Ask if he will pay your claim from his office. If he says yes, getting
two estimates may speed your claims payment. If he says no, talk to your
insurance adjuster first. Generally, claims are handled by the insurance
companies’ claims departments, not agents. Do not get an estimate
from a shop that you would not let repair your vehicle.
Q. Must I notify my
insurance company before repairs?
A. Yes. Insurance policies require you notify your company or agent, make
a report and tell them where the damaged vehicle may be inspected.
Q. Who pays the repair
bill?
A. You must arrange for payment. Your insurance policy states that the
insurance company will pay you less any deductible or depreciation.
Q. Who is responsible
for the repairs?
A. The shop. That’s why it is important to select a repair facility
that is properly trained and equipped to restore your automobile to the
best condition possible — like Thoroughbred Collision Centers!
Q. If my insurance
company fails to process my claim or pay the amount agreed upon, what
can I do?
A. First, contact your insurance agent, then talk to the branch or regional
claims manager of the insurance company. If that fails, contact the Washington
Insurance Commissioner. Having your automobile damaged in an accident
is an inconvenience but you can help minimize the problem. Since the amount
of your claim cannot be properly established nor your vehicle repaired
while it sits in a towing yard or is being driven by you, make sure you
select a repair shop and drive or have your automobile towed there as
soon as possible.
Q. How fast will my
car, truck, van, or SUV be repaired?
A. It depends on the type and extent of the damage. Rest assured that
we'll fix your vehicle as fast or faster than anywhere else.
Q. How am I going
to get around while my car is in the shop?
A. Convenient, affordable Enterprise rental cars are available at all
Thoroughbred Collision Centers. Many insurance policies cover interim
car rentals during your repair period. Check with your insurance agent
to be sure of your coverage.
Q. Why should I bring
